Organize your classroom library OR a bin of mixed math manipulatives? - Organize my library. I love organizing books. I should have been a librarian!
ReplyDeleteHave a student spill liquid glue on your head OR an entire container of glitter? Glitter. I don't mind being a little sparkly.
Sit in a 4 hour IEP meeting OR a 1 hour staff meeting about curriculum you can't use? 1 hour staff meeting because I could pretend to take notes while just daydreaming.
Listen to a child read to you for the first time OR watch a child complete a task independently for the first time? Hmm I don't know. Maybe listen to them read to me, since it is a huge milestone.
Take your students on a field trip to a noisy concert OR sit in a silent lecture hall? Sit in the silent lecture hall. I'd fall asleep.
Buy anything you wanted from a teacher store OR receive $5000 in special ed specific sensory equipment? It depends, do I get $5,000 to spend in the teacher store? Because if so, I'd pick that.
Have all of your paras out sick for a week OR make a months worth of sub plans for yourself? A month worth of sub plans. I like planning. I'm weird.
Receive a full day observation from the Special Ed Director OR a parent? A parent.
Fish underwear out of the toilet OR clean a bathroom accident off of the floor? Bathroom accident. I've done it before.
Write an IEP from scratch OR write new data sheets? IEP.
Have your bulletin board ripped down OR all of your bookshelves flipped over? Bookshelves flipped over, because the child could help me put everything back, whereas it would be hard for them to redo the bulletin board.
Have less students with no para support OR more students with para support? More students with para support. So we can divide and conquer.
Teach a whole group activity OR teach in the 1:1 setting? I don't know? Maybe 1:1 so I could give the student more attention.
Attend a heated meeting with parents OR a heated meeting with administration? With parents. I'd take things less personally. Administration can be sort of intimidating.
Have a kitchen OR a sensory room? Sensory room!
Listen to other teachers say a negative student behavior is cute OR have another teacher give unsolicited advice about a behavior? Have them say it is cute.
Give grades OR write progress reports? Progress reports.
Have administration reward negative behavior OR ask if you've tried calling home? Ask if I've tried calling home. I can just say yes or no, and no further damage done.
Use purple glue sticks OR white glue sticks? Purple!
Attend classroom Halloween parties OR school field day? Halloween party. I like holidays!
Have a para who refuses to change diapers OR a para who takes 30 minutes to change one diaper? One who refuses to change diapers.
Be best friends with the Physical Therapist OR with the Occupational Therapist? Occupational therapist. They do cool things.
Use Velcro strips OR dots? Dots because you don't have to screw up your scissors cutting pieces of Velcro off.
Have a parent email you daily OR have an absentee parent? EMail daily.
Use Crayola markers OR Mr. Sketch markers? Mr. Sketch!
Have no curriculum OR outdated curriculum from the 1970's? None. I'd make my own.
Have an early prep period OR a late prep period? Early.
Have a classroom with not enough furniture OR a classroom with too much furniture? Too much... it would be reasonably easy to push some to the side or ask to put it in storage or something.
Thats all my answers!
I agree with ALL your bold answers.
ReplyDeleteGlue sticks Ugh, but purple is usually best for seeing where all the extra has gone, when it's rolled all the way up and broken off. It also shows up WAAAAAY better on teeth ;)
I make friends with all the therapists!!
