Okay, so in all reality, my book choice this month should not surprise you.
Have you not seen me running around in a giant T-Rex costume yet? You might want to check it out.
It's all about Little Chick, a baby chicken who wants to be a part of the Farm House Club.
I wonder if Little Chick will prove worthy and be allowed in the tree house?

So after we talk about how to make friends, I take advantage of this to start a conversation about what a "good" and "bad" friend look like. I use this social story sorting activity to talk about actions that good friends make and actions that good friends don't make.
After we talk about our friends, we start using our imaginations a little bit and try to imagine what it would be like to be a little chick and a t-rex. It's always interesting to hear what my student's think it would be like!
Then it's time to write! I really like, and my students really liked, this writing activity ...they didn't even realize they were writing. Most of them picked to be a dinosaur, but hey... I would too :)
Two of my other favorite books for this month include Leprechaun on the Loose and Looking for Leprechauns. They are great books that lead into creative activities your students can do while using their imagination.
Your book selection this month is on point! I am always excited to learn about new books to teach students life skills....you can never overload on inspiring characters who are strong, brave friends. Adding this to my shopping cart. :)
