Happy Fall Y'all - A Primary Grade Blog Hop

Happy first day of Fall!! If there is anything I miss the most about the North East (all food aside because, come on, Philly cheesesteaks!) it's the change of seasons, especially from Summer to Autumn. The mountains just look amazing in all of the gorgeous shades of fall, the crisp air is perfect for cuddling... and then I'm down here in Texas still like:
Even though I am more of a summer and beach kind of person, fall is a really close second... and mostly because I fall into that "I love pumpkin everything" category. Statistically, I pumpkin myself out before Halloween and by then I want nothing to do with it. This year I'm really trying to limit myself not go overboard all at once.

But with the changing of the seasons, which does eventually happen in Texas, comes the change of weather. Last fall, I made a mistake and waited until it actually got cooler to buy long sleeve shirts and pants. Big mistake. So lesson learned and this is my current situation:

Yeah, that doesn't even include the three four five deliveries over the last 2 weeks from online shopping. But I've promised myself and Jeffrey that I'm done now and I'm ready to tackle this fall and winter actually looking presentable. Here's what I've picked out:

// Abercrombie Plaid Pocket Shirt $58 //
I'm venturing into plaid this year. I know. It's a big deal since I typically stick to solids. But this shirt is super soft and flowy, and not too warm or too thin, which is really nice. I plan on pairing it with black or maroon pants. It's kind of the perfect plaid shirt.

// American Eagle Lace Waffle T-Shirt $34.95 //
I've already worn this once and I got a lot of compliments on it. I purchased it in chalk, not army green, but I wanted you to see the detail of the lace. It's absolutely gorgeous. I wore a light brown tank underneath it to hide the infamous bra straps. The shirt is warm and loose fitting, which is perfect for fall.

So fashion aside, what am I looking forward to teaching about this fall? Well thanks for asking!
Right now we are working on beginning sounds and word families. My friends are doing so well at beginning sounds that many of them have mastered the skill already! So this week we will be focusing on word families.
I created this short matching-type activity to help my students recognize word families based on pictures. This gets them talking and using their voice too (a skill we work on in life skills). I did write the word on each card, but the nice thing about that is I can fold over the word part and the students can easily self check their work!
